  • Many lives in a lifetime. Yesterday we visited the 9-11 memorial with my daughters who are 10 and 12 years old. As I was standing on this spot, a shopping mall that was Ground Zero at the time, I remembered working here as a volunteer helping rescue workers with shiatsu as they were looking for survivors. There weren’t any. It still brings tears to my eyes when I talk about it. My daughters wanted to understand what happened and why. As I explained, the eldest was afraid that something like this may happen again but I said it was a matter of trust. That we should trust in the best possible outcome. That the attackers wanted to undermine our trust in everything and their defeat was that the hope and obstinate optimism we had, led to the reconstruction of an even better place. With my wife at the time we also thought about leaving town after the attack. We had just committed all our savings to buy a property not far from the area of the disaster and we were thinking “who’d want to move to Manhattan after this?” We thought we had lost it all. She said that we could get killed by a bus or a flu anywhere so it didn’t matter where we were and it made total sense to me. Why run? We stayed and pursued our dreams here. The city decided to rebuild the area and the property was sold a few years after, at a much higher price. People do want to live in Manhattan it seems. I haven’t seen so much construction like I have in this visit. As we move on to new challenges and shed old skins at very high speed we can say that death and rebirth now is done several times in a lifetime. Reincarnation is not so much the word for our time. Regeneration is . . . #calatrava #oculus #nineeleven #groundzero #volunteer #shiatsu #zen #wtc #rescue #regeneration #reincarnation #kids #history #hope #optimism #challenge #objectives #fatherdaughter #architecture #archetypes #healing #meditation #higherfrequency #touch #sustainable
