  • #repost my post from last year: Read MLK’s words: “First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.” - MLK ***My caption from last year —> {And here in 2017, I'd like to extend this not just to white moderates but to ALL people (but in honor of MLK ESPECIALLY WHITE MODERATES) who prefer a negative peace to the presence of justice. ✊🏽 Especially those who call themselves liberal, progressive or democratic...#bechange #blacklivesmatter #heretostay #illwalkwithyou #noDAPL #lovewins #stopsessions #MLKday } This year: now let’s get up off of our asses and turn these “thank you MLK’s” into some action. We’ve got, DACA, TPS, Black women, men, latinx, trans, disabled, Muslim, Native communities being targeted... let’s get to it. ✊🏽

I will add progressive whites who sits in their podium of privilege and encourage black people to fight against their own interests.

“I may not get there with you” always gives me a mournful chill all over yet strangely switches to hope knowing that I’m allowed freedoms he was seeking and can protest freely. 🖤✊🏽✊🏿

Thank you for the worthwhile post in these harrowing times of "alternative realities" and other forms of outright bald-faced LIES and sweeping so many things under the rug. One way of quietly but insistently "doing good" right now is to get involved with prisons, prisoners and prison reform. There are still far too many abuses and PRIVILEGES built into the system from top to bottom... and a kind word, an insistent "outside presence" CAN make differences in SOMEBODY'S LIFE!

I have always considered myself a moderate and yes I am white. I was never quiet or peaceful in the face of racism. But I was ignorant to racism, I believed because I wasn't racist that it wasn't really an issue. I know have a mixed race family, Native American, African American, Hispanic and European and my eyes are wide open. But I am baffled at how to explain to people what is right in front of their faces and even more lost on how to bring people together just as Humans. How do we move forward? #MLKday #illwalkwithyou #blacklivesmatter #humanrace

You can’t listen to Dr. King and not feel what he was saying, still to this day 💪🏾❤️🔥

@kendrick38 I wanted to go to your UIC event, and some friends were going to go to but the weather sucked, so I went home after work. 😢
