I was thinking the other day about something.. I have seen many wonderful things with both of my eyes; but my images, my entire works (with the exceptions of ones shot from the hip or live view or whatever) have all been moments seen with just one of my eyes.

Do you suppose the other eye gets jealous at times

Some time ago I was privileged to make a portrait for this fine fellow. This first image is one from the set that wound up not being “The shot” but I’ve always liked it. Actually just fired while we were resetting for what would be the final image (swipe to see the artistic vision which I can only hope came close to capturing the spirit of this remarkable individual). Juilliard trained, world renowned Roman Rudnytsky.

About two years ago, I took my worn out Redwing Heritage boots in to get re-soled. While he had them though, he polished them and put new laces in as well. When they came back I couldn’t stop looking at them, there’s just something about all that leather. Naturally, a little photoshoot ensued.

Still a ton of life in them, and still the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned by a mile.

Some time ago @rianecapalad and I worked on a project for @mvariety670 where we did mini interviews/ a portrait for any interested political candidates in that election cycle. After shooting the serious one, I couldn't resist having a bit of fun, because that's a lot of red. One of my favorite portraits.... eva 🤔

Reasons this image was difficult: wide open (f/1.4) on a manual lens in a dark place with a quasi-functional diopter adjustment on my camera body positioning flash on a hyper model who was afraid the pins were gonna hit her in the head on the way back down 😂 So, so satisfying to see this image on the back of my camera on about the 5th take.

Who knows what church this is?

These guys made me so happy. They were somewhat timid about the photos, the wedding itself was held in the mayor's office, and they contacted me with fairly short notice- basically I got the feeling that they were not really expecting much in the way of photos, just something to document the occasion.

It brought me joy to show them portraits that had been carefully made, to show them that they looked amazing and hopefully we made a few memories in the process with the photos, goofing off.

Every client is special no matter how big or small the shoot is ❤️

Today the bushcutter came, and brought (some of) his kids. I like them. He does a good job, and the kids are all very intelligent and well behaved. When he was done I asked if I could make an impromptu photo of them all together, grass clippings included.
