  • Little Astar has a question for all the other independent foster parents out there. How do you keep track of records for your fosters? Initially I was using all paper medical records (I still do) but then went on to trying software like ShelterLuv (which I find confusing) and now do both paper records and google forms but I’d love to find a software that’s easier to use. Any suggestions?

Evernote is a software where you can make note pages & scan documents by just taking a photo of it - might be useful for organising the paper documents into separate folders for each kitten?

Have you considered a scanning app or a small usb scanner? That way you could store all the paper copies digitally. I’ve had good luck with it in positions that required a lot of paperwork. Genius Scan is my favorite app, though it would be tedious for large amounts of paper.

My rescue has a folder for each animal, with medical history, rabies cert, adoption forms, etc. I do get frustrated over the limitations of the paper files though.

I use Shelterluv and it’s confusing at first but you get the hang of it! I can help if you want, unless you’ve completely ditched the idea of shelter software. It was super confusing and stressful at first, but now it’s easy. Shelterluv also has lots of good tutorials and amazing customer service.

Look into Notion.so. It's what I use for an-all-in-one note taking and kanban board for work

I usually do paper too or an entire separate planner just for the kittys. Technology aint it for me in that aspect

I second the endorsement for Evernote. You can tag the documents with additional information like ringworm, incubator, etc.
